On their very last day in Melbourne, just a few hours before flying back to Malaysia, I met this beautiful couple for a honeymoon photoshoot at Carlton Gardens. They had recently gotten married and chose Melbourne as their honeymoon destination—a city they’d never been to before, but one they’d always dreamed about.
They wanted something quiet and meaningful to end their trip. No big plans, no pressure. Just a morning walk together, holding hands in a place that felt like Melbourne.
Carlton Gardens couples photography felt like the perfect choice.
It’s one of my favourite spots in the city to photograph couples. There's something about the tree-lined paths, the soft rustling of leaves, the heritage fountains, and the grand Royal Exhibition Building in the background—it all feels timeless. Almost cinematic. Almost like a scene from an old romantic movie. And that was exactly the mood of this Melbourne couples photoshoot.
There was a gentle stillness in the air that morning. The kind you feel when something is coming to an end, but in a soft and beautiful way. They walked slowly, laughed easily, and leaned into each other like they were in their own world. I barely had to direct anything. They were just... there—with each other. Present.
I remember one moment so clearly—she looked up at him, then looked around at the golden trees and said,
“I think this is my favourite place in Melbourne.”
That stayed with me.
For them, this session wasn’t just about getting photos—it was a way of saying goodbye to a place that had held them gently for the past week. And for me, it was an honour to be there to help them hold onto that feeling.
As a Melbourne couples photographer, moments like these are why I do what I do. Sometimes the most meaningful photos aren’t about grand gestures or perfect backdrops. Sometimes, they’re about a quiet walk through a garden on your last day in a city you’ve come to love—with the person you’ve chosen to spend your life with.
And that’s what this session was.
