There’s something effortlessly beautiful about late afternoon light in a quiet garden—and Canterbury Gardens delivers just that. Located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, this peaceful space combines classic landscaping with tall trees, rose-covered archways, and wide-open lawns. It’s one of those places that feels familiar and calm, making it a wonderful choice for a couple photoshoot that’s both down-to-earth and visually stunning.
For this recent session, we timed our shoot to catch the afternoon golden hour, when the sunlight softens and stretches across the garden. The couple wanted their shoot to feel natural and easy—something more like a walk through the park than a formal setup.
Starting near the rose-covered pergola, we captured candid moments as they wandered and laughed together. The light filtering through the trees created soft highlights and shadows that gave the photos depth and warmth, without needing much direction at all.
As we moved through the garden, the sun dipped lower, casting a gentle glow across the open spaces. The combination of earthy greens, old stone features, and golden sunlight gave the whole session a calm, grounded atmosphere—one that felt timeless, but also very personal to them.
What I love about Canterbury Gardens is how versatile it is. Whether you're after something lighthearted or more reflective, the space adapts to the energy of the couple. It’s ideal for pre-wedding shoots, casual anniversary sessions, or simply capturing a meaningful moment in your relationship.
